Day 1 Tirana Airport – Tirana

Itinerary Day One

Tirana, Albania

Arrival at Nene Tereza Airport (Mother Teresa), where your driver will meet you for a private transfer to your accommodation in Tirana. After checking in at the hotel, enjoy the rest of the day exploring this modern and vibrant capital.

Day 2: Tirana

Tirana, Albania

Enjoy the whole day in Tirana where you can visit the main sites, impressive museums or trendy areas. And perhaps get some shopping in.

Day 3 Tirana – Shkodra

Shkodra, Albania

After breakfast you will receive your rental car (at 09:00) at the hotel and drive to the northern town of Shkodra. Before arriving here you will make a stop for lunch at the famous slow-food restaurant “Mrizi I Zanave” where you will try all perfectly prepared local dishes with locally grown ingredients. From here it is around 1 hour to the town of Shkodra.

Today you will have the whole day in Shkodra, but you could also visit the villages of Theth or Lepushe, located in the Albanian Alps. Both roads taking you here are breathtaking.

 Shkodra – Koman Ferry – Valbona

Valbona, Albania

After an early breakfast you will depart (around 06:30) to Koman, where you will take the ferry over the beautiful lake of Koman with breath-taking views of the scenery of the dramatic mountains and the green hills. When you arrive in Fierze you will be taken to Valbona, one of the most wonderful natural beauties of Albania.

Day 6 Valbona

Today you have the whole day to relax and enjoy the quietness of the Albanian Alps. You could enjoy a walk to the waterfall of Valbona or just sit in the garden and enjoy the views.

Day 7 Valbona – (Prizren) – Kruja

Kruja, Albania

After breakfast you can enjoy some more time in Valbona before heading into the youngest country of Europe, Kosovo. Here you can visit the UNESCO Decani Monastery and enjoy the town of Prizren, a city where three major religions and great cultures come together.

Day 8 Kruja – Durres – Berat

After breakfast you will drive to the UNESCO town of Berat. The city is also known as “the city of thousand windows”. Before arriving at the city of Berat you can make a stop at the winery called “Cobo”, where you can taste different wines from the area. From here it is around 25 minutes to Berat.

Day 9 Berat

Today you have the whole day in Berat to enjoy a walk along the streets or visit the places you didn’t visit the day before. Or visit the Alpeta Winery or the Osumi Canyon for river hiking/rafting.

Day 10 Berat – Gjirokastra

Gjirokastra, Albania

Today you will drive (through Lushnje and Tepelena) from one UNESCO town to the other UNESCO town, to Gjirokastra. It is said to be one of the most beautiful historical towns in Albania and known as “museum city”. Here you can visit the biggest fortress in Albania, built during the 4th century and house of the National Museum of Weapons.

Day 11 Gjirokastra

Gjirokastra, Albania

Today you will have the whole day in the town of Gjirokastra, but you could also explore the beautiful area around Permet and go rafting on the Vjosa river or visit the thermal baths of Benje.

Day 12 Gjirokastra – Blue Eye Spring – Butrint – Himara/Dhermi

Himara/Dhermi, Albania

After breakfast you will depart for the Albanian Riviera and on the way, you could visit the blue eye spring, formed by underground springs and from here it is around 45 minutes to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Butrint. The city was founded by the Trojans during the first millennium BC and was continuously inhabited for centuries. After this you can make a stop at the Islands of Ksamil to enjoy a coffee overlooking the islands with a view of the Greek island of Corfu.

Day 13 Himara

Unwind and spend your day on the beach or visit one of the other beautiful beaches in the area.

Day 14 Himara

Unwind and spend your day on the beach or visit one of the other beautiful beaches in the area.

Day 15 Himara – Tirana Airport

After breakfast there will be some time to go to the beach before heading towards the airport. If you have a later flight there’s still some interesting places to visit on the way.
